One of the first books I ever remember reading was a book called CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY by Roald Dahl. This book changed my life. It was so full of strange characters and imaginative writing that when I was finished reading it, I had to have more. It was like I had eaten a tiny piece of delicious chocolate, and as we all know, one piece of chocolate is nevere enough. So I borrowed some money and I bought all the Roald Dahl books I could find and I read them over and over again. And each time I read one of those books, I became more and more convinced that I wanted to share my love of children's literature with the world.

Welcome to the first issue of Crow Toes Quarterly, a candy bowl full of sweet literature and artwork by talented writers and artists from all around the world. Flip through the pages of this issue and you'll find a variety of strange characters and imaginative writing. A few pages after this one you'll meet Bigfoot. And a few pages after that you'll meet an odd little boy who celebrates Christmas every day of the year... There's just so much crammed in this magazine you never know what you're going to get when you put your hand in and pull something out. Maybe you'll get a story that has as much influence on you as CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY had on me. Read always and always enjoy!

CROW TOES QUARTERLY, an arts and literature magazine for children aged 8 to 13, was chiseled and sculpted out of a love of playfully dark and quirky children's literature. The magazine took flight in January 2007 and in its short life made giant, flapping strides. CTQ gained national distribution and built a healthy international subscriber base. Each issue of CTQ was filled to the gills with short stories, poetry, interviews with real and not-so-real people, and beautifully frightening artwork by amazing local and international talent. After four years and sixteen glorious issues, CTQ closed its doors for good in January 2011.
